Pensive Beauty® Nanoscience Labs develops, converts and characterises leave-on skincare in-house. Formulation, HLB-to-nano conversion, DLS particle sizing, robustness testing and transfer documentation, all run in our lab in Seffner, Florida, on NanoBase™.
We design every formula free, on paper, in an executive summary before you commit. Formulation projects start from $5,000 per formula. Standalone lab services are quoted in writing after a short scoping call.

Bring a formula balanced with HLB. We rebuild it on the NanoBase™ tri-domain Architecture with the same actives, so particle size becomes something you can measure instead of approximate.

Particle size analysis (DLS)
Multi-angle Dynamic Light Scattering following the principles of ISO 22412, reported as z-average and dispersity. The same measurement we hold our own batches to.
Accelerated Physicochemical Robustness Test
z-average, dispersity, pH and appearance read out under thermal cycling and centrifugation, so stability is measured rather than assumed.
Scale-up documentation
A full transfer package so your formula runs at any qualified contract manufacturer. You own it, with no vendor lock-in.

Where HLB approximates, the lab measures.
HLB, introduced in 1949, balances an emulsion by a number read off a chart. NanoBase™ is designed with TDA Logic to an electrostatic (DLVO) stabilisation specification and sized by DLS. Read about TDA Logic.

How much do lab services cost?

How is particle size reported?

Can you convert a formula we already sell?
Yes. Once a mutual NDA is in place, we rebuild it on paper first, free, using the same actives on NanoBase™. Bench work on the conversion is then quoted like any project.
What does the robustness test measure?
z-average, dispersity, pH and appearance under thermal cycling and centrifugation. It shows how the formula holds up under stress before it goes to your manufacturer.
Who owns the formula?
You do, once development is paid, under our Terms. You can produce it with any qualified contract manufacturer. Only how NanoBase™ itself is made stays proprietary to the lab.
Do you manufacture finished products?
No. We are a formulation lab, not a contract manufacturer. We hand over a formula and documentation for any qualified manufacturer, and can suggest one if you need it.
